WNES HALLOWEEN PARADE

October 1, 2021

Dear Parents,

We would like to take this opportunity to provide you with some guidance regarding Halloween in our schools for this year.

On Friday, October 29th we invite all staff and students to dress up in costumes or to wear fall colors (orange, black, purple, yellow, brown…) to celebrate the season. Students should wear costumes that they can manipulate independently should they need to go to the bathroom. Please also know that if we feel a costume would cause a safety concern regarding specific outdoor recess activities, we may guide your child to another area or activity. Students are not permitted to bring “props” such as swords, axes, or toy guns to school even for this event. Students need to still wear (Covid) masks with their costumes while indoors.

This school year, weather permitting, we are planning 3 separate parades for students in the circle. Parents are invited to watch their child(ren) at the designated times provided below. All visitors and students are asked to please remain at 3 foot distances and must remain masked for this event. We also ask that visitors kindly leave the area when their own child(ren) are not parading to keep crowd numbers at a minimum. In the event of inclement weather, the parade will be held indoors with no parent visitors. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Early Schools (Laurel Plains, Link, New City, Strawtown)

Kindergarten and First Grades: 8:35am – 8:50am
Second and Third Grades: 9:00am – 9:15am
Fourth and Fifth Grades: 9:25am – 9:40am

Late Schools ( Bardonia, Lakewood, Little Tor, West Nyack, Woodglen)

Parents should feel free to send in a special snack for their own child. Non-food Halloween gift bags are welcomed as long as there are enough for each student in the class.

WNES PTA DRAMA PROGRAM

We are happy to announce that once again the West Nyack Elementary School PTA is partnering with Willie Wilson’s Theatre Arts Group to run an After-School Drama Program for our students! The program will run from November 2021 – February 2022. (*Please note: All participants will be required to wear a face mask fully covering their nose & mouth at all times during this program and while in the school building.)
For: CurrentWNES Students in Grades 2nd through 5th
Where: West Nyack Elementary School (location of dress rehearsal & show TBD)
Fee: $425 per child (sibling discount: fee of $400 for additional children – please enter code sibling for every child after the 1st child being signed up.) We recommend paying by eCheck to minimize the transaction fee when checking out.
Pricing includes a play-themed shirt!
When: Mondays – from school dismissal until 5:30pm (Mostly Mondays except where noted.)
Sessions will be held –In 2021: 11/1, 11/8, 11/15, 11/22, 11/29, 12/6, 12/13, 12/20 In 2022: 1/3, 1/10, 1/18 (Tue), 1/24, 1/31
Other Important Dates:Dress Rehearsal & “Show Days” are set to be on Tuesday 2/1, Wednesday 2/2, & Thursday 2/3Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, times and locations for these have not yet been locked in. Also, it is possible that it will not be able to be a show in front of a live audience. The WNES PTA & Willie Wilson’s Theatre Arts Group will work together to monitor current COVID-19 rules, restrictions, and regulations in CCSD and in New York State to determine if a traditional live show is possible.
***ENROLLMENT TIMING & PROCESS ***
* Enrollments will be accepted by grade as outlined below.* All registrations and payments must be submitted online.
Students Grade – Enrollment Period Begins
5th Grade – Saturday, Oct 23rd at 7:00am – 12:00pm
4th Grade – Saturday, Oct 23rd at 2:00pm – 7:00pm
3rd Grade – Sunday, Oct 24th at 7:00am – 12:00pm
2nd Grade – Sunday, Oct 24th at 2:00pm – 7:00pm
Open Enrollment for Grades 2-5 – Monday, Oct 25th at 7:00am until program is Sold Out
* Registration will be monitored. If you submit online enrollment for your child prior to the assigned enrollment period for their grade, their registration will be cancelled.
*Registration will be closed between registration periods for each new grade. Although older grades may continue to register during the younger grade’s time windows, it is recommended that you register your child(ren) in their grade’s time window since registration is first come, first serve.
* The online enrollment system is designed to cap off enrollment at 32 participants. A waitlist will be available once the program is Sold Out.
* Registration is first come, first serve.
* Enrollment fee is non-refundable.
